Electrical Engineer

As an Electrical Engineer at Cleveland Cliffs Tek and Kote, you will be an integral part of the autonomous work teams that make up the Tek and Kote production and maintenance organizations. The individual at this level is a seasoned engineering professional who demonstrates a broad grasp of the technical and administrative aspects of electrical engineering techniques and principles. Projects assigned are complex, involve multiple variables, and can be cross-functional. Individuals in this role prepare effective communications across the organization and aid in problem resolution specific to assigned programs/projects. The Tek and Kote facility is located in New Carlisle, Indiana, and we produce cold-rolled, hot-dipped galvanized and galvannealed, and electrogalvanized steel coils. Responsibilities Develop solutions and implement projects that improve the process and focus on providing electrical and programming logic expertise Diagnose and troubleshoot programming, electrical and process issues Must be able to create and modify programming logic systems and code to support and improve the process Conduct tests to confirm necessary programming and equipment changes Must possess the ability to work with operations, engineering, maintenance, and other technical resources in a group and then drive results Analyze and modify blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems Must have the ability to lead and/or monitor the electrical work of outside contractors (e.g. electrical system upgrades, expansions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the projects are satisfactory and completed in a timely manner Complete project responsibilities for design, specification, review and development of electrical equipment or systems. Will be involved with making engineering studies, detail design, procurement, installation, acceptance testing and performance audits. Able to respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate production and safety concerns Should have a working knowledge of industrial wiring, controls, and instrumentation Must be able to work in a union environment Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree (B.S.E.) in Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university is required Working knowledge of PLC and HMI setup and programming Working knowledge of AC and DC drives troubleshooting and setup Working knowledge of tuning and calibration of PID loops and controls In-depth knowledge of power distribution equipment Ability to troubleshoot complex process problems Ability to self-learn new hardware / software platforms Must be able to work in a multi-level organization which operates 24/7 Must have the ability to work effectively within a team environment, utilizing clear and effective communication skills Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment Able to manage several projects at a time and make timely and accurate decisions Knowledge of Microsoft applications, computer skills and data analysis skills Preferred Requirements Minimum of five years of engineering experience within a thin web ferrous, non-ferrous, paper, or film coil environment. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
